Lake Norman Humane envisions a community where pets are safe and healthy in loving homes. We work to keep families and their beloved pets together whenever possible through an array of programs and services.
We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome companion animals. Through adoption, Lake Norman Humane makes new beginnings possible in the lives of nearly 800 animals per year. To help reduce the pet overpopulation problem, we partner with clinics and area veterinarians to offer affordable, accessible spay/neuter services.

Lake Norman Humane is comprised of staff and volunteers who are making a difference in the lives’ of animals one pet at a time. We are governed by a volunteer Executive Board of Directors who oversee the strategic plan, mission, and vision of our organization.

Our Work.
We work diligently with multiple animal control facilities and rescue organizations to intake animals who might otherwise be euthanized due to over-population. Many of our animals have been surrendered by owners who are no longer able to provide care or have experienced a change in lifestyle or circumstances.
About our process
Prior to being placed for adoption, every animal we rescue receives a behavioral assessment, as well as a medical evaluation by a veterinary technician.
Our conversational adoption process allows us to understand your wants and needs as potential owners and helps us to recommend pets best suited for your family’s lifestyle. We serve as a lifeline to our community for any questions or concerns that may arise following adoption to support our adopted pets as they transition into their new home.

Sunday & Monday (CLOSED)
Tuesday-Friday (Noon-6:00pm)*
Saturday (Noon-4:00pm)*
*Tours end 30 minutes prior to close.
