Medical Fundraiser

March has proven to be a very challenging month. With more than 8 dogs in active stages of Heartworm treatment, and multiple neglect cases that have entered Lake Norman Humane in recent weeks, we need your help!

Below are just a few of the special cases currently under the care of Lake Norman Humane. Please help us continue to offer lifesaving treatment to these wonderful animals and many more like them.

Harvey

Harvey recently came to LKNH from a municipal shelter with what was believed to be soft tissue damage in his right leg. He is a happy fun-loving boy, that doesn’t let his injury slow him down. You can imagine our shock when x-rays showed this wonderful boy has not one, but TWO fractured femurs! Harvey has a long and costly road to recovery ahead of him, but we are committed to seeing him through it. Please help us give Harvey a new beginning.

Kiera +10!

Sweet Kiera found herself overbred and abandoned while very pregnant and almost out of time. Lake Norman Humane did not hesitate to bring Kiera into our family and set a course for her new beginning. Last week our Kiera birthed 10 beautiful puppies! Mom and puppies are receiving around the clock care and doing well. She is such a loving and attentive mom. Please consider donating today to support Keira and the care of her little ones and help us continue to save more animals in need of a new beginning.

Iris

In mid-January Lake Norman Humane answered the call to assist an array of cats in a dire situation.  With the sudden passing of a loving rescuer, and surviving family uninterested and unwilling to continue any care, a good samaritan was willing to give them temporary refuge in an outdoor shed.

Stunning Iris was among the 11 cats that found care and safety with Lake Norman Humane that day. Her road to recovery has been a longer journey. Struggling with persistent discomfort and chronic infections in her right eye, Iris required an ophthalmological specialist and surgical intervention to correct a congenital malformation affecting her eye.

Though still a little swollen from her procedure, Iris loves to perch atop your shoulders like a parrot for some quality snuggles!

Throughout all of her treatments and recovery, Iris has remained the picture of love and affection, warmly greeting everyone she meets. Iris is well on the road to recovery and ready for her new beginning. Because of the generous support of our community, both near and far, Iris is safe, no longer in pain, and her vision is intact.
